Cathedral Grammar staff and parents have raised concerns about the safety of students using Chester Street West during drop off and pick up times. The school currently operates an informal crossing point, which is not ideal, as the sight lines are not adequate. To remedy this we are proposing a new kea crossing which will operate when a school patrol and signs are in place.
We are also proposing to change the P5 on Chester Street West to P3 to better reflect the drop-off nature of the parking.
We are proposing changing the all day parking on the west end of Kilmore Street and on the east side of Cranmer Square, adjacent to the school, to P120.
These changes will provide the school and surrounding businesses with short term parking - Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. This should better meet the needs of the area and for those people who wish to visit local amenities such as the Museum and Botanic Gardens. This will also enable parents with a location to park if they need to visit the school or preschool during school hours.
