Matariki celebrations 2023
Arts Centre Matariki celebrations
3 to 20 Hōngongoi July 2023.
Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre invites you to celebrate Matariki with talented artists from Ōtautahi and beyond. Just as the nine whetū (stars) are navigation points in the night sky, Matariki is a chance to orient ourselves, reflect on the past and look to the future.
This year’s Matariki celebrations explore whakatere waka (navigation) through ngā toi (the arts) and include outstanding performances, an exhibition of Māori visual arts, a stunning Kapa Haka showcase, exciting kid's wānanga (workshops) and the Matariki mākete with local crafts and delicious kai.
Gather your whānau and friends to enjoy a range of creative events to mark the occasion. Ngā toi is for everyone.
