Proposed course outline

  • Session 2: Identifying personal, transferable, and technical skills.
  • Session 3: CV and cover letters.
  • Session 4: Communication, mock interviews, and personal presentation.
  • Session 5: Where are the jobs? Hidden job market.

Employers value transferable skills and hire based on those combined with your personal qualities. This course will help you to work out what your transferrable skills are and add them to your CV.

"Employers will work on the basis that if somebody has initiative, or willingness to learn – that will help you learn the technical skills. They can be taught. Transferable skills take much longer to teach. Technical skills are what we learn on the job. Nobody ever goes into a job knowing everything about that role anyway because all employers do things differently, have different processes and use different language" Claire French – Career Coach
