Winter Fireworks Spectacular

We're kicking off the school holidays with a bang. Round up your whānau and join us for the winter fireworks spectacular set to classic rock anthems.

Proudly produced by Christchurch City Council, Winter Fireworks Spectacular, happening on Saturday 1 July will deliver a cracker fireworks display set to classic rock anthems off the New Brighton Pier. A huge thanks to Firework Professionals for putting on the show and to Radio Hauraki, the official radio station of the Winter Fireworks Spectacular.

Enjoy the festivities from 5.30pm at the New Brighton carpark north of the pier, where live music and entertainment will be. Choose from a great selection of kai from the local vendors onsite, then watch the sky light up at 7.30pm.

If bad weather forces the postponement of the fireworks, it will be announced via Radio Hauraki and our Facebook page. The call to cancel may not be made until just before the fireworks start at 7pm. The postponement date is Sunday 2 July.

You can catch our free ‘park and ride’ bus service out to the event from Eastgate Mall, where you can park your car for the evening. The express buses will leave from Eastgate Mall and head out to New Brighton Pier between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, and the return trip will leave from Oram Avenue by the pier between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

Check the map below to see where there are road closures, no on-street parking, and one-way traffic in place for the event, between 4pm and 9.30pm.
