The exhibition tells Walter's story through historical and archaeological evidence and showcases artefacts from his 1865 to 1875 shop, Sheppard and Co., from alcohol bottles and clay tobacco pipes to pickle jars, glass tumblers and ceramic transfer wares.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Underground Overground Archaeology and the Christchurch Archaeology Project.

Admission charges apply for the Kate Sheppard House experience.
