Walking into History | Rakaia Huts

Join members of the Rakaia Huts community on a guided tour of this historic recreational fishing village, finishing with a relaxed afternoon tea.

Grab your walking shoes and get set to explore another corner of the Waikirikiri Selwyn District. Learn how Rakaia Huts, near the mouth of the mighty Rakaia River, has evolved through generations of families and holiday makers - from a small collection of fishing cottages to the established community of baches and permanent residences we see today.

Please be aware that this walking tour requires a reasonable level of mobility, and due to uneven terrain, is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs.
