University of Canterbury Campus Bioblitz

Join University of Canterbury staff and students for a BioBlitz walk around the campus to discover all living things as part of the City Nature Challenge 2026.

Help document the diverse Christchurch flora and fauna, supporting the University's research efforts.

Alongside experts and aspiring naturalists, you'll likely learn something new about the natural world. The event is suitable for people of all ages and skill levels. If you are new to using the iNaturalist.app, someone will be happy to help.

Meet us in Te Ngaki o Waiutuutu Community Garden(external link) on UC campus. Access the garden from Engineering Road, take the path along the stream (upstream).

City Nature Challenge is an annual bioblitz-style competition with cities around the world in a friendly contest to see who can make the most observations of nature.

You have until Monday May 10 to upload your photos into iNaturalist to make your observations count in the challenge final totals.
