The Ghost of Matter with Octavia Cade

Come to a literary reading by the author Octavia Cade, and take a tour of Ernest Rutherford's laboratory afterwards. The Ghost of Matter (Paper Road Press, 2015) is inspired by the life of young Ernest.

It's 1886, two young boys disappear in the Sounds. Their brother Ern, faced with a problem to which no solution can be found, turns to his laboratory – and to the smell of salt, soft voices in his ear, wet footprints welling seawater in the darkness.

Bookings required.

Octavia Cade is a New Zealand writer with a PhD in science communication. She's sold close to 50 short stories, won three Sir Julius Vogel awards and was the 2020 writer in residence at Massey University.

Octavia is a 2020 Arts Centre Creative Resident.

Visit the Arts Centre website for information about a science and science fiction writing workshop with Octavia Cade.
