Join the Russian Cultural Centre Trust (Christchurch) in celebrating its contribution to the cultural fabric of New Zealand for the last 20 years. 

The centre has provided settlement support and quality educational/cultural programmes to our ethnic Russian-speaking communities.


Saturday 7 November 

11am to 4pm:

  • Arts and crafts exhibition open to the public.
  • Free.

Sunday 8 November 

11am to 4pm:

  • Arts and crafts fair.
  • Entertainment and authentic food including cakes, pastries and dumplings.
  • Documentaries screening including 'The greatest cities of Russia and post-Soviet countries'.
  • Workshops.

Workshops

12noon to 1pm:

  • Create your own bright postcard in Russian folk-art style 'lubok' with graphic designer Tatiana Bajenova.
  • For children and adults.
  • Koha/donation.

12noon to 4pm:

  • Workshops with Marina Alieva, decorating Russian-style ginger biscuits. 
  • Option to buy readymade or decorate ginger biscuits on the spot.
  • Great for children, and for adults. 

12noon to 12.40pm and 2pm to 2.40pm:

  • Science Alive! Russian Space workshop: Anne-Marie Robinson, the United States Space Camp ambassador to NZ, and Science Alive! project administrator Sofiia Karpova will present the workshop including science videos, educational and interactive games, and a quiz.
  • For families with children aged 6 to 14 years.
  • Free.

1pm to 2pm:

  • Makeup artist Dasha Mayn will present a masterclass showing how to apply makeup correctly and how to turn day makeup into a going-out look. Dasha has over 3 years’ experience and has done makeup looks for all sorts of occasions. In 2019 she graduated from the Institute of Makeup in Stockholm, Sweden. 
  • Free

2pm to 3pm:

  • A vocal masterclass with international opera singer (soprano) Olga Shanina from St Petersburg’s Mikhailovsky Theatre.
  • For professional and amateur singers. 
  • Koha/donation.

  • Entry by koha/donation (cash only, please)
