Join us on the Peace Train East bike ride. Cycle to different places of worship, finishing at Aldersgate Centre meeting up with the north, west and south rides.
Join us for any of the 4 Peace Train bike rides on Sunday 11 April along with your whanau and friends. Each ride stops at places of worship around our city and we end together at the Aldersgate Centre.
These rides re-enact and carry forward the beautiful intentions that surfaced after the 15 March 2019 tragedies so we can again show our collective support and solidarity to the message of unity and peace across all ethnicities, faiths, religions, languages and races.
Select the ride that is closest to you. You can join at the start or jump on at the place closest to you. Use our Facebook page to register your interest and keep up to date.
All rides are 5km to 12km long and end together at Aldersgate Centre, 309 Durham Street North for a welcome tea and korero (bring your own cup).
By this simple action of cycling together quietly, and visiting centres of all faiths, we remind ourselves of the commonalities we have, the differences we need to celebrate and the walls we have to break to bring all our whanau together especially after the 15 March 2019 tragedies in Christchurch.
Additionally, it’s a collective celebration that promotes physical activity, health, and safety for neighbours and the environment through biking or walking.
