A celebration and interpretation of the many signs of Matariki guiding us towards new beginnings and endless possibilities.

Let yourself be transported to a world where ancient wisdom meets modern marvels, where each note carries the whispers of the stars and each word reveals the celestial secrets of creation.

"Ngā Tohu o Matariki”, is a collaborative collective of celebrated artists, empowering women whose musical wisdom weaves together a soundscape for the soul to create a mesmerising musical journey.

Bringing together Māmā Mihirangi, internationally renowned singer/songwriter, loop-artist, multi-instrumentalist and storyteller with Otautahi’s renowned soundscape and song ensemble Pou Ataata - combining Taonga Pūoro (Mahina Kaui), Voice (Lisa Tui), Cello (Nicole Reddington), and Bassoon, Keys and Piano (Pieta Hextall).

Drawing on their years of experience as music improvisors, songwriters, and collaborative performing artists, Māmā Mihirangi and Pou Ataata, promises to be a concert experience that is both timeless and inspired, influenced by their expertise and sonic exploration.

Join us in an evening of illumination enchanted by sounds and signs of Matariki, the harmonious empowerment of women’s voices and their wisdom, the vibrational resonance of classical and contemporary.

This event is part of Matariki 2024, where we're celebrating Matariki with talented artists from Ōtautahi and beyond.
