In July 2010 the Canterbury Branch hosted the New Zealand Geographical Society Conference.

Just two months later a series of earthquakes devastated the built environment, caused major upheavals for our natural environment and was an extremely testing time for our communities.

Twelve years on this conference will examine and critique resilience, its relevance for recovery and the processes used.

The conference will showcase geographical research by geographers, collaborators and partners in allied disciplines. There are a number of themes for the conference that have guided the selection of our keynote speakers.

This conference will be held both in-person and virtually, so will proceed regardless of Covid requirements.
