This wānanga (workshop) includes self-portraiture and offers you the opportunity to try out sketching, drawing and colour with artist Maxine Burney.
Portraiture is an ancient art form still practiced today. In this wānanga (workshop) with artist Maxine Burney, we will explore our faces using pencil, mirror, keen eyes, open mind and a warm heart. Coloured pencils or pastels will give you the freedom to put all the elements together in a cohesive and/or creative way.
This event is part the Matariki celebrations at Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre (3 - 20 Hōngongoi July 2023). Celebrate Matariki with talented artists from Ōtautahi and beyond. Experience outstanding performances, an exhibition of Māori visual arts, a stunning Kapa Haha showcase, exciting kid's wānanga (workshops) and a Matariki mākete (market).
Suitable for ages 7+
Venue: Maxine Burney Art Gallery and Studio
