Richmond Community Garden, Avebury House, and Avon-Ōtākaro Network host an accessible, welcoming, winter event highlighting the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor.
We will mark Matariki and aspects of Maori Tradition with food, music, activities and a week-long trail lighting display. There will be live music.
We'll have activities for kids big and small - wood-carving, flax-weaving, marshmallow-toasting and more.
The delicious hāngi will be raised at 4.30pm, with huge thanks to Tuahiwi Marae. It will be served alongside a boil-up, vegetable soup, fried bread, hot chocolate and booze-free mulled wine.
As the sun goes down, the lights will come up! It's going to be a brilliant day out - and you're invited.
The light display will be on for the whole week.
