Matariki family planting at the Rongoā Garden

Join rongoā practitioners as they celebrate Matariki and puaka rising to signal the Maori New Year. We will be planting native trees and shrubs into the Rongoā Garden and we’d love your help.

This planting event is great for families.

Park and meet at 303 Radcliffe Road where you will have a chance to explore Te Waoku Kahikatea Reserve. It’s an easy 5 to 10-minute walk to the planting site.

For those coming late, there is limited parking at the Rongoā Garden accessible from 567 Marshlands Road.

Dress warmly with sturdy footwear, gumboots and warm layers recommended.

This is a joint event run by the Kahukura Rongoā Maori Trust, Styx Living Laboratory Trust and Christchurch City Council.
