Louis Liu – Flute

After travelling the world for his studies and competitions, he is back home and a guest on our stage.

Louis Liu is a fifteen-year-old flautist from New Zealand.

He began studying flute at the age of seven and went on to win the Australian Flute Festival Young Artist Competition (under 18 category) at eleven years old, the San Francisco international online flute competition, was awarded the Outstanding Junior Performer at the Galway flute festival and performed in the gala concert of the Guangzhou international flute competition.

Upon arriving in Switzerland for a year’s study, he won two major competitions within two months – the CNSE Champion du Vent of Neuchatel and First Prize with Special Mention at the CSMJ, the national Swiss competition.

He won first prize at the International Online Competition of the German Flute Society and was invited to play in Weimar. Recently, he won a senior scholarship from the CLEF organisation. A very prestigious prize arranged by Chiron Group.

He has been one of Chiron's students since the beginning of his musical studies, which is also a major factor in his success.

This concert is part of the Rising Stars Concert Series 2023(external link). A new Tuesday lunchtime concert series that’s encouraging, supporting, nurturing and providing a performance platform for emerging young musicians.
