Kite Day, supported by The Hits returns to New Brighton Beach to brighten the skies of the seaside suburb.

This well-loved kiwi summer event is back. Enjoy a relaxed whānau day out, lapping up the sunshine and taking in the spectacular view of the sky lit up with colourful kites.

From inflatable dragons, sea creatures and cartoon characters to the more classic shapes and styles, the colourful kites on display always draw a crowd. There will be sandcastles, games, and a heap more to keep you entertained too.

No kite? No problem! The Kite Shop and Youth Alive Trust will be selling kites on the day.

Make a day of it with a yummy picnic or get lunch from a local New Brighton café. Mr Whippy will also be on site, as well as Youth Alive Trust will be selling candyfloss.

Remember to be sun smart – slip, slop, slap and wrap.

Sorry, dogs aren't permitted in kite-flying areas.

If the weather isn't on our side, postponement date is Sunday 14 January!
