Kids' spring drumming workshop

Put a spring in your step with this fun drumming workshop for kids.

Learn to play African drums in a drum circle. You will learn a range of basic techniques to play the drum, create some fun rhythms that celebrate the season of spring, and learn how to play all together as a group.

Tamara Smith is a renowned flautist, percussionist, composer, teacher, dancer and band leader of the world-music collective Mundi. She is a trained high school teacher and has taught at high schools both in New Zealand and London, and has been a music specialist to schools within Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region.

Tamara taught and worked alongside renowned children’s musical play teacher Julie Wylie here in Christchurch. She loves to share the joy, humour, connection and expression that music brings with children of all ages.

For kids aged eight to 14.

Venue: Cloisters Studio.


This event is part of The Arts Centre's School Holiday Fun, a lively programme bursting with loads of creative events and activities to spark imagination and entertain preschoolers through to teens.
