Walkers can enjoy a slice of rural Canterbury History and encounter the stories of the people that lived in Hororata and helped shape the province.

The lovely Hororata Domain has to be Selwyn's best kept secret with its plantings of rhododendrons and many walkways.

The museum and Cotons' Cottage provide a glimpse of rural life in a bustling town servicing a number of our famous early Canterbury run-holders and their families including Sir John Hall, Samuel Bealey and of course Bentley Coton as well as many items to illustrate how our rural forebears lived.

The walk takes about an hour ending at the Hororata Museum where refreshments will be served.

A brochure with map and information is available.

Return to your cars at the church in a classic Oldsmobile to look around the old cemetery.

Meet at St John's Church, Hororata Road, Hororata.

Walks begin at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
