Help restore native biodiversity to the Sanctuary

Forest & Bird North Canterbury together with the ECan Park Rangers invite you to join us planting native trees in the Sanctuary wetland – all welcome!

Join us for a planting day on the south banks of the Waimakariri River to help restore the biodiversity to this area. The Sanctuary is an Environment Canterbury reserve accessed off the end of Coutts Island Road.  

Park at Bailes Island car park and the planting will be signposted from there.

  • Register at 9.15 am.
  • 15 to 20-minute walk to the planting site.
  • Planting 10-12 noon. Cuppa and baking afterwards.
  • Some spades available but bring you own if you have one. Bring your own gloves.
  • Please stay home if you are unwell.
