Find out more about the great leisure activity family history can be. Learn how to find out who your ancestors were and what they got up to.
A day-long workshop with short talks and an opportunity to utilise the well-stocked library and resources of Canterbury Genealogy Society with assistance from friendly volunteers. Talks focus on how to get started on your Family History research; accessing school records; and using New Zealand’s Papers Past website. Take this opportunity to go deeper than just names and dates.
Primary emphasis on genealogy as a fantastic leisure time activity; and how one might find out what sports or leisure pursuits ancestors did (via school magazines; club records). We will show people how and where to start looking.
Our premises will be open for the entire day for people to drop in, use our resources and library, and to receive help with their research.
While morning and afternoon tea will be provided, attendees will need to bring their own lunch or explore the many food options across the road at the Parklands Shopping Centre.
