- Saturday 11 Oct 2025, 11am to 11.45am
The original concept of the Demonstration Fruit & Vegetable Garden will be outlined followed by a reflection on its evolution over the past 25 years.
In cooperation with the Friends of the Botanic Gardens and the restaurant owners, hear Botanic Gardens Section Curator Louise Young outline the Demonstration Garden's development and how it fits with the heritage of the Curator's House. Dennis Preston, the garden's original designer, will also be speaking.
You will be lead through the evolution of the garden over the past 25 years, providing an open book for our community on managing vegetable gardening as we live in smaller environments yet increasingly value sustainable practices. Learn how the garden produce is integrated into the Curators House restaurant's menu.
Find inspiration for the development of your own home vegetable garden no matter the space available or your ability.
The Friends of the Botanic Gardens will be holding a plant sale (cash only) at the event.
Booking required. Entry donations/koha will go towards Friends of the Botanic Gardens projects.
