Acclaimed writer and raconteur Peter FitzSimons takes over the Piano stage to give us an insight into his life as a historian, athlete, and media commentator.
How did a former Wallabies rugby player come to be a public historian, playing his part in writing the Australian narrative?
A bestselling writer of more than 20 books, Peter writes regular columns for The Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald and is a television presenter on Fox Sports.
His passion is to tell Australian stories. He is the biographer of World Cup-winning Wallaby captains, Nick Farr-Jones and John Eales, as well as former opposition leader Kim Beazley, war heroine Nancy Wake and magazine Queen, Nene King.
He’s best known for his books on the Australian War experience including Tobruk, Kokoda, and Gallipoli.
Peter is a Member of the Order of Australia for service to literature as a biographer, sports journalist and commentator, and to the community through contributions to conservation, disability care, social welfare and sporting organisations.
