Akaroa Open Mic at The Common, Akaroa features original poetry by Erik Kennedy & original music by Lesley Meguid.

Our 22nd July Akaroa Open Mic at The Common, Akaroa features poet Erik Kennedy and local musician Lesley Meguid. Doors open 6.30pm, Open Mic from 7.30pm.

Erik Kennedy is an acclaimed contemporary poet, editor, critic, and performer based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Originally from New Jersey, USA, his writing has earned critical recognition for its wit, elastic thinking, and blending of serious, urgent themes with dark humour.

Performing alongside Erik as a guest musician will be local legend Lesley Meguid, who will be sharing something special from her song writing journey. Lesley is a versatile singer-songwriter, best known as a solo performer and the charismatic former lead singer of the Swiss alt-rock band Redwood. 

If you are a poet or writer who is keen to do a 15-minute set as a guest artist, then Brigid is keen to hear from you and is really keen for locals to have this opportunity.
