Notice of by-election for the Lyttelton Community Subdivision of the Banks Peninsula Community Board

Notice is given that on Wednesday 16 May 2018 a by-election will be held to fill one extraordinary vacancy for the Lyttelton Community Subdivision of the Banks Peninsula Community Board. The vacancy has arisen from the recent resignation of Christine Wilson.

Nominations
Nominations for the above position open on Tuesday 20 February 2018 and must be made on the nomination form available from the Christchurch City Council Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch, the Lyttelton Library and Customer Services, 18 Canterbury Street, Lyttelton or www.ccc.govt.nz/elections.

Completed nomination documents must be received by the Electoral Officer no later than 12 noon on Tuesday 20 March 2018. Each nomination must be accompanied by a deposit of $200 incl GST, payable by eftpos, cash, cheque or on-line banking.

Candidates are encouraged to submit a candidate profile statement and recent photograph for sending out with voting documents to electors if an election is required. The requirements for profile statements and photos are set out in a candidate information sheet which is available with the nomination form.

Electoral Roll
Preliminary electoral rolls for the by-election can be inspected at the Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch, or the Lyttelton Library and Customer Services, 18 Canterbury Street, Lyttelton during normal office hours from Tuesday 20 February to Tuesday 20 March 2018.

Electors may enrol or amend their enrolment details on the residential electoral roll by:

• Calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56)
• Visiting the Elections website (www.elections.org.nz)
• Completing an enrolment form available from any NZ Post agency.

Updates to the preliminary electoral roll close at 4pm on Tuesday 20 March 2018.

Applications for registration as a ratepayer elector are to be made on the nonresident ratepayer elector enrolment form available from the Christchurch City Council Civic Offices or www.ccc.govt.nz and must be returned to the Electoral Officer before 4pm Tuesday 20 March 2018.

Election Details
If an election is required to fill this vacancy, the election will be conducted by postal voting under the First Past the Post electoral system.
