Denton Park - Notice of Proposed Partial Changes in Reserve Classification and the Management Plan

The proposal to build a new Hornby Library, Customer Services and South West Leisure Centre on Denton Park requires a part change in reserve classification to one that covers community buildings, and changes to the Denton Park Management Plan.

DENTON PARK

The project to build a new Hornby Library, Customer Services and South West Leisure Centre is provided for in the Christchurch City Council's Long Term Plan 2010-25.  The Council at its meeting on 24 August 2017 approved Denton Park as the preferred location for the new complex.  This is proposed to be sited on part of Denton Park fronting the Main South Road.

Denton Park is a recreation reserve subject to the provisions of the Reserves Act 1977.  To ensure the proper control, management, use and development, it is appropriate that the part of Denton Park reserve on which the new complex is proposed to be sited is classified for the intended purpose of community buildings.  Also, the Denton Park Management Plan is required to be amended to reflect this proposed development on Denton Park.

The Christchurch City Council thereby gives notice as follows:

Proposed Change of Reserve Classification - Part of Denton Park

It is proposed to change the reserve classification for the parcel of land specified in Schedule A below from Recreation Reserve to Local Purpose (Community Buildings) Reserve in accordance with Section 24(1)(b) of the Reserves Act 1977.

Schedule A

Part of Rural Section 41304, contained in Computer Freehold Register 504741, comprising 9766 square metres subject to survey and marked "A" on the plan below.
