Paeroa Reserve Tara Street - proposed easements on Reserve

As part of the Paeroa Reserve pump station upgrade the Council intends to install the following structures on the reserve: Orion power kiosk, fan chamber and biofilter buildings.

This is public notice in accordance with the requirements of section 48 (2) of the Reserves Act 1977 (Act) that the Council intends to resolve to grant, subject to the consent of the Minister of Conservation:

  • an easement in gross to Orion for electricity purposes covering approximately 5.5 m2
  • easements in gross to itself for water supply and waste water purposes covering approximately 55 m2 of the land described in Schedule A below.

Schedule A

Affected land:

  • Part Reserve 4457 and Lot 2 Deposited Plan 22313, a reserve for municipal purposes of 1,265 m2

  • Reserve 5128 and Lot 2 Deposited Plan 79463, a reserve for recreation purposes of 5821 m2

The control of these reserves is vested in the Christchurch City Council pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977.

The easements will cover all existing above ground structures and the new structures identified above.  The Orion kiosk is located near the Tara Street entrance and will not impede public access to the reserve. It replaces the existing kiosk which will be demolished. The fan chamber building will occupy approximately 4.4m2 and the biofilter structure will occupy a 40m2 area.  These two buildings will be situated south of the existing water supply service building which occupies 10.5m2

To make a submission:

Any person or organization wishing to either make a submission or object to the proposed easement over part of the reserve described in this notice, may do so in writing no later than 5 pm on Tuesday 6 December 2016 to the person whose contact details appear above. Submitters should indicate in their submission if they wish to appear before a Reserve Hearings Panel to be heard in support of their submission or objection.
