Proposed Ground Lease to North Hagley Community, Sports & Recreation Trust Board

This is public notice in accordance with the requirements of section 54(2) of the Reserves Act 1977 (Act) that the Council has conditionally approved the granting of a ground lease to the North Hagley Community, Sports & Recreation Trust Board (the “Trust”) pursuant to sections 54(1)(b) and (c) of the Act over the land described in the Schedule below which was previously leased to United Bowling Club Incorporated.

In its capacity of holding the Minister of Conservation’s Delegation and pending the outcome of this public notification, the Council intends to grant its consent to the lease in accordance with section 54(1) of the Reserves Act 1977.

The proposed lease is for a period of up to 33 years, broken into three 11 year periods with the Trust having the right to request a renewal of the lease after the first 11 years subject to the Trust being a viable entity and having fulfilled the requirements of the lease.

The Trust intends to purchase the buildings and improvements from United Bowling Club Incorporated.  The Trust has been set up as a result of a joint entity formed by members of High School Old Boys Rugby Club Incorporated and Christchurch Petanque Club Incorporated for the ownership of the existing buildings and occupation of the grounds formerly leased to United Bowling Club Incorporated.

SCHEDULE

Approximately 5387.5m2 of land comprised in Sec 6 SO 467852 of 87.5600 hectares more or less, classified as a recreation reserve notified in New Zealand Gazette number 107 page 2706 on 11 September 1980 (CFR 657423).

Any person or organisation wishing to either make a submission or object to the proposed lease over part of the reserve described in this notice may do so in writing no later than 5pm Friday 16th September 2016 to the person whose contact details appear above.  Submitters should indicate in their submission if they wish to appear before a Reserve Hearings Panel to be heard in support of their submission or objection.
