The nomination period to fill the extraordinary vacancy for the Akaroa community subdivision representative on Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula Community Board has now closed. Two nominations have been received:

A voting process is required to determine the successful candidate and will be conducted by postal voting using the First Past the Post (FPP) electoral system. Voting will open on Monday 11 May 2026 and voting will close at 12 noon on Friday 12 June 2026.
Enrolment
Residential electors within the Akaroa community subdivision area who are not listed on the final electoral roll for this by-election can enrol or amend their enrolment details on the electoral roll on or before 4pm Thursday 11 June 2026.

Akaroa community subdivision ratepayers who live outside the Akaroa community subdivision area and who are not listed on the final electoral roll for this by-election can enrol on or before 4pm Thursday 11 June 2026 by completing and returning a ratepayer enrolment form, available from the Christchurch City Council Elections Team or from ccc.govt.nz/elections(external link)
Special voting
Special voting facilities for the by-election will be available Monday to Friday from Monday 11 May to 12 noon on Friday 12 June 2026 at the following locations and hours:
- Christchurch City Council Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street, 8am to 5pm
- Akaroa Customer Service Hub, 78 Rue Lavaud, Akaroa, 10am to 2pm
- Little River Customer Service Hub, 4238 Christchurch Akaroa Road, Little River,8.30am to 4.30pm (closed 12.30pm to 1.30pm)
