Temporary road closures -Events at Apollo Projects Stadium - Winter Fireworks - NZ Brass Band National Championship

The Council has approved the temporary closure of the following roads, for the following events, on the dates and times shown below.

Events at Apollo Projects Stadium - Super Rugby

Roads to be closed:

  • Jack Hinton Drive from Twigger Street to Whiteleigh Avenue
  • Twigger Street Between Jack Hinton Drive and Lincoln Road

Periods of closures:

Due to the nature of the competition, the below timings will be unknown until competition results are finalised.

Closures will be confined to a 5-hour closure period, in alignment with standard closure time frames, between the times outlined below.

  • From 1.30pm to 10pm between Friday, 6 June 2025 and Sunday, 8 June 2025
  • From 1.30pm to 10pm between Friday, 13 June 2025 and Sunday, 15 June 2025
  • From 1.30pm to 10pm between Friday, 20 June 2025 and Sunday, 22 June 2025

Winter Fireworks

Roads to be closed:

  • Beresford Street from Owles terrace to Marine Parade
  • Brighton Mall - entire length
  • Collingwood Street from Owles terrace to Union Street
  • Hardy Street - entire Length
  • Mafeking Street - entire length
  • Marine Parade from Hawke Street to Hood Street
  • New Brighton Road - from Pratt Street to Pages Road
  • Oram Avenue from Hood Street to Beresford Street
  • Owles Terrace from Union Street to Pages Road
  • Seaview Road from Hawke Street to 35m East of Hardy Street
  • Seaview Road from Shaw Avenue to Brighton Mall
  • Union Street from Seaview Road to Hood Street

Period of closures:

  • From 4pm to 11:59pm Saturday, 5 July 2025 with a contingency date of Sunday, 6 July 2025

NZ Brass Band National Championship

Roads to be closed:

  • Armagh Street - From Durham Street to Colombo Street
  • Colombo Street from Gloucester Street to Kilmore Street
  • Oxford Terrace from Colombo Street to Manchester Street

Period of closures:

  • From 9:30am to 1pm on Sunday, 6 July 2025

These closures are to be made under paragraph 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974.

The closures will apply to all vehicular traffic with the exception of emergency service vehicles, public transport services, vehicles directly involved with the event and event permit holders. No access will be available to vehicles who do not hold an event permit for access during the period of these proposed closures.
