Proposed temporary road closures: Elton John Concert, Coast to Coast 2023, Electric Avenue Festival 2023

The Council has received applications for the temporary closure of the following roads, for the following events, on the dates and times shown below.


Elton John Concert - Orange Theory Stadium

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Twigger Street: From Lincoln Road to Jack Hinton Drive
  • Jack Hinton Drive: From Whiteleigh Avenue to Twigger Street

Proposed period of closures:

  • From 4pm to 11:30pm, Tuesday, 24 January 2023

 
Road proposed to be closed:

  • Whiteleigh Avenue: From Lincoln Road to Show Place

Proposed period of closure:

  • From 9:30pm to 11:30pm, Tuesday, 24 January 2023

Coast to Coast 2023

  • Marine Parade: From Hawke Street to Beresford Street

Proposed period of closure:

  • From 9 am Saturday, 11 February to 1 am Sunday, 12 February 2023

Road proposed to be closed:

  • Lower Styx Road from Marshland Road to 180M East of Lower Styx Road

Proposed period of closure:

  • from 11am to 11pm Saturday, 11 February 2023.

Electric Avenue Festival 2023

Roads proposed to be closed:

  • Armagh Street: From Cranmer Square West to Park Terrace
  • Park Terrace: From Armagh Street to Chester Street West and from Bealey Avenue to Dorset Street
  • Rolleston Avenue: From Armagh Street to Gloucester Street

Proposed period of closures:

  • From 9pm to 11:59pm Saturday 25 February, 2023

These closures are proposed to be made under paragraph 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974. The proposed closures will apply to all vehicular traffic with the exception of emergency service vehicles, public transport services, and vehicles directly involved with the event. 

No access will be available to vehicles, other than those listed above, during the period of these proposed closures.

Any person who wishes to object to the proposed closure may do so in writing to the Council Secretary, Christchurch City Council, PO Box 73016, Christchurch, no later than 10am Monday 19 December 2022.
