A gathering space designed to encourage people to come together.
The Common includes seating and kai tables, together with planting and a rain poem. The poem references the traditional Māori proverb behind Matai Common, the name of the gathering space, Ruia taitea kia tu ko taikaka anake (Let the common people and children stay at home, and the warriors only go to fight).
Its proximity to the new Hoyts cinema and Bus Interchange makes it ideal for events and activities for young people.
