There is no simple solution to address our current financial situation and we have looked at all avenues available to us, including making savings to reduce our operational spend, reprioritising our capital works programme and borrowing.

We have been mindful of the fact that we need to support the city’s recovery without putting too much added financial pressure on our residents and businesses. Getting this balance right is the challenge of this Annual Plan, and our Long Term Plan to follow in 2021. Read more on Newsline(external link).

Submissions

If you made a submission on the previous Draft Annual Plan 2020-2021 you will receive an email with options to either:

  • Withdraw your submission and submit a new one.
You will have the opportunity to comment on the new questions being asked, or
  • Resubmit your original submission unchanged.
If you resubmit your original submission, you will not get an option to view the new questions which are being asked.

If we don't hear from you before the closing date, we will accept your original submission.

Hearings

As the Council will be adopting its 2020/21 Annual Plan by the end of July 2020, there is not enough time following the close of consultation to complete a separate hearings process. Instead, we are holding hearings at the same time as receiving submissions, with the whole consultation process scheduled to be completed by 5pm Monday 29 June 2020.

Given the time constraints, opportunities to be heard will be limited but we will endeavour to accommodate submitters within the timeframe. Groups will be allocated five minutes to speak and individuals will have three minutes.

If you would like to be heard, please get in touch with us by 18 June 2020 on (03) 941 8999 or ccc-plan@ccc.govt.nz. Hearings will be held in the Council chamber at the Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street. Audio visual/audio link options will be available to submitters who do not wish to attend hearings in person.
