Let us know what you think about the opportunity to update and enhance Paddington Playground
Consultation on Paddington Playground Renewal has now closed. People were able to provide feedback from 15 March to 7 April 2019.
During this time we heard from 24 individuals and groups. You can read their feedback [DOCX, 18 KB].
Community Board have made the decision to proceed with this proposal. Construction began on site late January 2020.
The approved concept plan [PDF, 1.8 MB] is available. Some very minor changes were made such as the existing seat being relocated a bit closer to the play area.
This play space project is part of our programme to make sure your local community has play equipment that is suitable, safe and meets the New Zealand Playground Standards.
Our vision for the new play space is to provide a range of play equipment that will cater for a wider range of abilities and age groups. We also plan to install new gardens and four new trees, near the playground, to enhance the play area. For the planting around the playground we will select plant species that are low to the ground to ensure good visibility is maintained.
A concept plan [PDF, 1.9 MB] is presented to show the new layout.
There are two soft fall areas that differ in height so ramps will be installed to aid movement between the two areas.
We would like to hear your views prior to the final design. We would appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us.
The volleyball net is in good condition and this will be kept as long as possible. The basketball half court is also in good condition. However, we propose to move it closer to the playground away from residential properties when the court comes up for renewal.
