Consultation has closed

Consultation on a landscape plan for a park at old Redcliffs School site has now closed. We heard from 51 individuals and groups. You can read their feedback [PDF, 39 KB] and view the revised landscape plan [PDF, 2.4 MB]. From Friday 15 March (afternoon) you can also read the staff report, which includes the recommendations that will be presented to the Waikura/Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board on 20 March, 2019.

Background

The Ministry of Education (MoE) is currently rebuilding Redcliffs School on the old Redcliffs Park site. The old school land is controlled and managed by the Council, as a recreation reserve and buildings are currently being demolished. Following the sale of land to the MoE, $1.2million is available to develop a new park. The area is slightly smaller than the former Redcliffs Park (by 643m²) but there is room to replace all the facilities of the former park. The existing playground, furniture, car park and a community building will be kept. A junior and intermediate football field, toilet, drinking fountain, additional furniture and new signage will be constructed. A new perimeter path is also proposed. The climbing net from the old park will be relocated to the existing play area.
