An alcohol ban will be in place for the following upcoming large-scale events in QEII Park.
It will apply to the public areas surrounding the events, but not within the event area if it has an alcohol licence. The alcohol ban will apply to the “Queen Elizabeth II Park” area shown in Schedule 2 of the Christchurch City Council Alcohol Restrictions in Public Places Bylaw 2018; and will apply on the following dates, for 24 hours (from 12.00am – 11.59pm):
- 3 January 2024 (Juicy Fest)
- 5 February 2024 (Carl Cox)
This notice is given in accordance with section 170(3)(a) of the Local Government Act 2002 for the purposes of sections 169(2)(a) and 170(2) of the Act, and gives the Police the power to search a container or vehicle in relation to alcohol in a ban area without prior notice.
