Sumner Skate Park

What

Construction of new skate park and additional amenities.

Why

Since 1989, demand for a skate facility in the Bays Area has been recognised. Subsequently Council approved 26 Nayland Street for a skate and scooter park, collaborating with the community on its design. Community feedback supported transforming 20/24 Nayland Street into a Village Green to compliment the skatepark.

Late May 2024 until early October 2024. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

The new skate park will include the following:

  • 2x bowls
  • 2x quarter pipes
  • Grind rails and poles
  • Multiple ledges

The new amenities include:

  • Picnic table
  • Bench seating
  • Rubbish bins
  • Canopy Shelters
  • Lawn and garden areas

Adjacent to the skate park will be a new Village Green which will include the following features:

  • Double barbeque
  • Picnic table under shelter
  • Seating areas
  • Rubbish bin
  • Drinking fountain
  • 580m2 of new grass open space
  • 25m2 stage looking out towards the green
