Port Hills planting day

Get involved in restoring the Port Hills by taking part in a volunteer planting day on Marleys Hill this Saturday afternoon. Spaces for the planting day are limited so you need to register. You will also need to have a good level of fitness as some of the terrain you will be working on is quite steep.

For queries or to register your interest in future volunteer planting days, email parks.volunteers@ccc.govt.nz

Botanic Gardens Open Day

On Sunday why not take a behind the scenes look at the Botanic Gardens. It is holding an open day between 11am and 3pm. Come along and discover how plants are collected and pressed in the Visitor Centre Function Room, then visit the Lawrie Metcalf Herbarium to see how the Botanic Gardens store and use pressed specimens for research.

Jazz and Blues festival

The Cavell Leitch New Zealand International Jazz and Blues Festival is in full swing this weekend and there's a little something for everyone.

On Saturday you can jump aboard the tram and enjoy a trip around the city centre while listening to the music of the River City Jazzmen, an authentic Dixieland jazz band, or you can head to the Doug Caldwell Auditorium for Go Go Calypso.

On Sunday listen to some of our most talented young jazz musicians perform at the Festival Jazz Bank High School Concert.
