Changes to the proposal

We considered all feedback and some changes have been recommended, following further input from the project team:

  • Changing P60 to P120

A report will be presented to the Banks Peninsula Community board for project approval at their meeting on Monday 24 September 2018.  The agenda will be available on the Council website from Friday 21 September 2018.

Background

The angle parking spaces on Selwyn Avenue (between Rue Jolie and 5 Selwyn Avenue) opposite the Akaroa library are unrestricted and can be occupied for extended periods of time, in particular by all day parkers and campervans. This impacts on parking availability for the library and the surrounding area.

The third parking space in from Rue Jolie is shorter then the others due to the large tree. When a vehicle is parked in this space it can over hang the edge line in to the traffic lane causing safety concerns.

There is a painted mobility park outside the library that does not have formal signage to identify this space. This will be addressed as part of this project.

Proposal

  • Install P60 parking restrictions on the north side of Selwyn Avenue between Rue Jolie and 5 Selwyn Avenue
  • Change the third parking space in from rue Jolie to a motorcycle parking space
  • New cycle stands outside the library
  • Install a mobility parking sign at the existing space outside the library.
