131 Puriri Street - retaining wall naturalisation

Removal of retaining wall and naturalisation of Ilam stream.

A section of the waterway bank on the Ilam Stream has experienced erosion and needs to be removed.

Avon River by 131 Puriri Street.

Work will continue throughout May 2021 and is expected to be completed by the start of June (weather and on-site condition dependent). Work will be undertaken between Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm.

The contractor is City Care Limited. Phone the site manager on 0508 248 922 between the working hours stated above.

The retaining wall is currently supporting the bank, however the load from the bank has started to push this wall out of plum and the waterway has been found to be undermining the bank, this is a potential flooding risk if the retaining wall were to collapse. The trees located on top of the bank and near the edge of the bank are also at risk of falling and causing injury or damage.
