May timeframes

All timeframes are approximate and dependent on weather and site conditions.

Zone A

  • Early May: A new water main will be installed in the Wainui St/Elizabeth St intersection - there will be a road closure in place for this work but this will be communicated closer to the time.

Zone B

  • Early May: From Monday 10 May, the Division St/Elizabeth St intersection will be a four-way road closure. Elizabeth St will be returned to two-way traffic sitewide prior to the installation of these road.
  • Late May: Drainage will be completed in the Division St/Elizabeth St intersection and the water main installation will be approximately 50% complete.
  • Late May: There has been an additional scope of drainage works identified outside Wharenui Pool to resolve the flooding issues - this will be completed in May.

Zone C

  • Early May: Traffic will return to two way on approximately 10 May. Please note - the final design cul-de-sac on the east side of the Clarence St/Elizabeth St intersection will be underway by this time.

Zone D

  • Early May: The one way traffic management layout will be maintained for the month of May on Picton Ave between Blenheim Rd and Burdale St with the direction of traffic travelling south to north. This is in place so the raised threshold can be constructed and to complete the work already underway on the Blenheim Rd/Picton Ave corner.
  • Early May: From Thursday 6 May, Elizabeth Street will be a no exit cul-de-sac on the east side of the Clarence Street intersection. The construction of final design cul-de-sac will take approximately 4 weeks. Work includes kerb and channel, footpaths and landscaping.
  • Late May: Traffic will return to two way between Clarence St and Picton Ave prior to the work outlined above commencing.

Note for all zones: Footpaths and cycleways will be asphalted.
