Details

A 52 metre section of existing brick barrel stormwater pipe, built in 1910, has reached the end of its useful life and needs replacing with a new main.

  • NIGHT WORK: a week of night work will be required to install the pipe. As this work can be noisy, it will be carried out at the start of the shift so any potential disruption will occur as early as possible in the night. We need one-lane traffic on Brougham Street to install the pipe underground and we are not permitted to do this during daylight hours due to the heavy traffic volumes.
  • Speed reduction: two lanes in each direction on Brougham Street will be maintained during day time
  • Road closure: Barrie Street and James K Baxter Place may be closed for the duration of the works with detour routes in place. Please follow temporary signage installed around the intersection
  • Vehicle access: there may be times when vehicle access to properties will be temporarily restricted. The contractor will contact residents beforehand to allow residents to move vehicles if necessary
  • The work may result in increased dust, noise and vibrations. We will try to keep any disruption to a minimum
