From Monday 2 March for approximately two weeks, 9am - 2.30pm weekdays, we will be potholing to locate services at Westminster Street / Cranford Street intersection.

Traffic impacts

During this time, there will be no left and right turns from Cranford Street onto Westminster Street. When one direction of traffic on Cranford Street is affected, the opposite direction will remain unaffected. i.e. northbound traffic on Cranford Street will have turning restrictions at times; southbound traffic will have turning restrictions at times.

Pedestrian access will be maintained around this intersection, however one of the four crossings at this intersection may be closed at times and pedestrians will be detoured around this. Pedestrians will also be shifted closer to the shop frontages. Our friendly staff will help people get around our site. We will need to restrict some on-street parking, so will place no parking cones out before we start work. We will aim to minimise this as much as possible. Please be on the lookout for changes in traffic management and follow the signs.

How do we carry out potholing?

During potholing, a hydrovac will be on site. This machine uses high-pressure water and a powerful vacuum to remove soil, which is noisy work. The soil is then transferred to a debris tank to keep mess to a minimum. This is a safe, non-destructive and accurate way to remove soil or locate underground utilities, such as pipes, electrical cables and phone lines. We know this work is disruptive so we aim to complete this work as quickly as possible.
