Warden Street reconstruction

What

A full reconstruction of Warden Street between Petrie Street and Hills Road. This work includes new drainage, footpaths, road pavements, kerb, channels, and berms, as well as relocation of services where necessary.

Why

To undertake repairs to earthquake damaged roading assets and improve the traffic safety for all users.

Where

Warden Street from Petrie Street to Hills Road in Richmond, Christchurch.

When

Road construction works will be undertaken between 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday. Stage 1 Petrie Street to Chancellor Street: mid-January 2020 to September 2020. Stage 2 Chancellor Street to Hills Road: mid-September 2020 to January 2021.

The main contractor is Citycare Civil Limited. Phone 027 704 5734 between 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Contact Christchurch City Council after hours 03 941 8999. Advise us if you have specific property access requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, planned works.

We will work hard to minimise the construction noise.

There will be some changes to traffic management:

  • Lanes will be temporarily closed at times
  • Street side parking may be temporarily unavailable throughout works
  • There may be traffic delays at times
  • Footpaths may be temporarily closed
  • Vehicle access to some properties may be temporarily unavailable at times. We will come and speak to residents prior to this happening

If you have any trees or bushes that overhang the footpath or berm, please trim these back.
