What are we doing?

We are building a new pump station at Simeon Quay. Once complete, wastewater from new pump stations at Cashin Quay in Lyttelton, Governor’s Bay and Diamond Harbour will be pumped here and then onto a pump station in Bromley, via a pipeline recently built above Lyttelton Tunnel and the Heathcote Valley pipeline under construction.

When are we working?

Work at Simeon Quay will typically be carried out Mondays to Fridays, 7am to 6pm. Some work will need to be carried out at night to minimise the impact on traffic using the intersection of Simeon Quay and Norwich Quay during the day. We will alert residents in the area prior to night works.

What has been completed so far?

We have cleared the site of vegetation and completed the majority of excavation work for a wet well, which is over five metres deep.

What is coming up?

Over the next two weeks, we will finish excavation and prepare the site to make it safe to work in, by undertaking rock bolting and shotcrete temporary works.

We expect to start building the well’s reinforced concrete walls at the end of May, which will take about a month. Once the wet well is complete, we will start on drainage and installing utilities.
