Akaroa Wastewater Investigative Boreholes

What

We will be drilling two investigative boreholes.

Why

The investigation boreholes are required to inform Council of the suitability of the substrata for deep well injection.

Where

Near the intersection of Old Coach Rd and Long Bay Rd.

When

Works will commence mid July 2018 and be completed by the end of December 2018.

Contact

For operational queries please contact the City Care site manager on 027 285 0878 between 7am- 6pm (Monday to Friday). Please advise us if you have specific property access requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, planned works or stock movements.

We are carrying out investigative drilling to provide information on the viability of deep bore injection as an option to dispose of treated wastewater from the future Old Coach Rd wastewater treatment plant. Two holes (shown in yellow below) will be drilled to a depth of approximately 250m. If viable, deep borehole injection could be an option for future treated wastewater.

If you have a spring or bore for private supply in the area Council staff would like to hear from you to understand the location, and depth, of this supply and ensure it is included in consideration of the deep bore option. Please contact Mike Bourke at mike.bourke@ccc.govt.nz or Kylie Hills at kylie.hills@ccc.govt.nz.
