Colombo Street - cycleway connection project

Update

What

We are installing painted cycle lanes on Colombo Street, and resurfacing Colombo Street between Kilmore Street and Salisbury Street.

Why

Our network of cycleways is making it safer and easier for people to cycle. When more people are cycling it eases pressure on our roads.

Where

Colombo Street from Bealey Avenue to the Avon River Bridge.

When

21 March to July 2022. Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Contact

The contractor is Schick Civil Construction. Phone James Flower on 021 371 272, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Details

In the past week the new seating and cyclestands have been installed and the last of the asphalt laid on the footpaths.

Furthermore, all landscaping has now been completed across the site. The last of the work at the intersection of Colombo Street and Bealey Avenue will be completed this week.

The new 30km/h speed signs will be installed Monday 23 May reducing the speed limit along  Colombo Street between Bealey Avenue and the Avon River Bridge; and on Peterborough Street between Durham Street North and Manchester Street.

The items being worked on this week include:

·         Placement of new planter boxes

·         Linemarking

·         Tactile pavers installation

·         Erecting new parking signs

·         Implementing 30km/h speed limit

We are ahead of schedule and the project is now largely completed. However, you may notice a minor presence throughout the site whilst the remaining loose ends are completed. We thank you for your understanding and patience throughout the duration of this project.
