Details

As part of the High Street Upgrade works the tram network is being extended. In January 2022 and running for approximately 6 weeks works will take place to install the remaining tram poles and overhead wires for the tram network. This work will be completed during the day and overnight as some of the tasks require working in the road.

Over this period there will be different traffic management set up to allow for the works to take place. There will be a new works notice for each week detailing the works and traffic management for that week.

Week 1

On Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 January new tram poles will be installed around the Manchester/Lichfield/ High intersection. This work will be completed during the day. There will be an eastbound lane closure on Lichfield Street on the approach to the intersection but you will still be able to turn left onto Manchester Street.

Tuam Street will be reduced to one lane for approximately 3 weeks to allow for traffic light and tram works.

On Thursday 13 January a tram pole on the south west corner of the intersection will be installed and there will be a lane closure in place between Tuam and Lichfield Street, on the northbound lane to the Manchester/Lichfield/ High intersection. A streetlight pole will also be installed in the footpath outside C1. This work will be completed at night.

Detours will be in place so please follow the signage.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, please follow the signage. The speed limit around the site is 30kph so we can keep the workers safe.

We know this work is disruptive so we appreciate your patience whilst these works are taking place. Our contractors will be working hard to complete the works as quickly as possible, whilst staying safe. Please be safe and be kind.
