What |
We will be replacing the waste water lateral, water supply main, submains and laterals, and constructing the new cycleway, footpaths and pedestrian crossings. |

Why |
Our network of cycleways are making it safer and easier for people to cycle. More people cycling eases the pressure on our roads. The Sewer and Watermain replacement are part of a wider renewal program in the area and has been brought forward in advance of the cycleway works. |

Impacts to traffic
- Work area: 21 to 68 Wharenui Road, and the corners of Lochee Road and Peverel Street, Riccarton / Upper Riccarton.
- During the day the road will remain open but with reduced width and the loss of some street parking.
- Wharenui Road will have two-way traffic
- Lochee Road will be exit only heading north
- Peverel Street will be closed between the intersection of Euston Street to Wharenui Road with access for residents only.
Impacts to residents
- These works will generate some noise and light that we will keep to a minimum by undertaking particularly noisy activities during the middle of the day.
- Water supply to properties will be shut-off for a short period of time to connect households to the new system. A shutdown notice will be communicated in advance of the works with exact times of the shutdown and other information.
Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
