Details

We’re replacing water main and sub-main pipes on Wairakei Road between Wooldridge Road and Breens Road. The work will start on 4 May 2026 and is expected to be complete by the end July 2026.

We understand that this work is disruptive, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

To carry out the work safely, Wairakei Road will be reduced to one lane with detours and other traffic management in place.

Road closures/traffic impacts

Traffic will be restricted to airport bound movements only along this section of Wairakei Road. Works within the Wooldridge Road / Wairakei Road roundabout are required and will be carried out at night in mid June 2026.  A separate notification will be distributed closer to the time with further details regarding these night works.

Road closures are also required on Breens Road and Todd Avenue:

  • Breens Road – 4 May 2026 to 9 May 2026
  • Todd Avenue – 11 May to 22 May 2026

For further information on detours and traffic management please see: www.ccc.govt.nz/northwest(external link)

Access to properties

There may be times when vehicle access to properties is temporarily restricted. The contractor will door knock beforehand to allow residents to move vehicles if necessary. Full pedestrian access will be maintained.

We will work with businesses in the area to maintain access as much as possible. On-street parking during the works will be restricted.

The works may result in increased dust, noise and vibrations. We will try to keep any disruption to a minimum, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

Water supply to your property will be maintained, with a separate notice being given for the shut-off when connecting to the new pipes.

We will endeavour to complete works as efficiently as possible and return the road to normal operating conditions.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during these works.
